THE BEST STUFF OF JANUARY 2007!!!

I woke up this morning with a slight hangover and an inexplicable – yet unquenchable –urge to write the fashionable “what I watched/read/listened to in 2006 that I would recommend to others” post. However, I felt as though I had missed the cut-off for this kind of post… so I will re-title it “my favorite albums, movies, and books of January 2007” (though they probably did not come out in January 2007). So, grab your watches and hang on to your mug ‘cause HERE WE GO!!!!

Music
Gomez – “How We Operate”
Paul Simon – “Surprise”
Bob Dylan – “Modern Times”
Natalie Merchant – “Ophelia”
Brad Mehldau – “House on Hill”
Derek Webb – “Mockingbird”
Yusef Islam – “Yusef” (not my favorite, but the fact that Cat Stevens came out with a new album after about 30 years made me yelp like a French poodle who needs a hair cut)

Movies
“An Inconvenient Truth”
“Wedding Crashers”
“Broken Flowers”
“Lost in Translation”
“Little Miss Sunshine”
“Match Point”
It was in 2006 when I saw my first Woody Allen movie. After that, I watched almost every one ever made… some were good, some were copies of the good ones. Overall, I think my favorite Woody Allen movie might be “Match Point”, but there are several of them that are quite good.

Books
Chaim Potok – “My Name is Asher Lev”
N.T. Wright – “The Challenge of Jesus”
Richard Bauckham – “Bible and Mission”
Justo Gonzalez – “Christian Thought Revisited”
Ellen Frankel – “The Five Books of Miriam”
Rob Bell – “Velvet Elvis”

Bunny
One of the best things that happened this year was that Lydia and I got a bunny. He goes by many names and is currently hiding behind the toilet and trying to burrow through our linoleum tiles. He brings us much joy and is very good company.

Here are the three best video clips of January 2007 (one is an imposter)!!! YEAH!!!

Here is the best Photo Booth Picture of me and Marcus for the year of January!!!

The month of January also brought us the best State of the Union address ever! George bush has never been sexier. All you liberal haters out there will eat hay!

The month of January is also the month in which I did yesterday become closer to my goal of becoming 27 (which will happen next year).

The ICE CREAM SOCIALISTS BEGAN WORK ON A new album!

I didn't do my reading today.
