My ...Well Dan, looks like we're heretics together. My church is in the Wesleyan holiness tradition, so I'm learning to appreciate orthopraxy more. I think we've lost that because of an over-emphasis on depravity/grace at the expense of thankful living.

What percentage of Christendom are Christians because they're scared of hell? 90%? Sometimes I wonder about that for myself. How many people would keep coming if we stopped preaching hell?

Back to orthopraxy. Its hard enough to get people to want to live righteously with hell to hang over their heads. We're screwed without it. What would a teaching of Christian life independent of hell/heaven teaching look like? I think the OT is a good place to look for that.

Way to use the Church fathers, but you spelled Origen wrong.

love, hibblesMark Hilbelinkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14645452825895366257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6061244237036918753.post-77186242270791575962006-12-02T21:01:00.000-05:002006-12-02T21:01:00.000-05:00dan. mmmmmmmm.

Only your argument is slightly better defended than the others I've heard for the abolition of hell. It's like, when someone finds out you're a Christian, sooner or later they're going to ask you whether or not you think they're going to hell, or so-and-so who does such-and such is going to hell. It's almost a distraction from the real message of the gospel.

Anyway, smart post. Pelagius is a funny name.

P.S.--Sarah says, "Where's Lydia's blog?"Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09939235620137794560noreply@blogger.com
